    Lounge Ratings

    Comfort & Ambiance8.0

The compact mezzanine lounge uses a mix of dining tables, armchairs and work-friendly seating. Its enclosed position limits airfield views, but the layout is calmer than the main departure area.

    Food & Beverage8.5

A table-service menu runs from snacks and salads to full hot mains, with vegetarian and vegan choices. Complimentary drinks include South African wines and bar service.

    Amenities & Facilities7.7

Facilities include Wi-Fi, charging, shower rooms and luggage storage. There are no verified sleeping rooms, spa services, meeting rooms or outdoor space.

    Cleanliness8.0

The maintained dining and seating areas, shower rooms and restrooms support a strong cleanliness assessment. Evidence is insufficient to rate maintenance at the very top of the scale.

    Editorial Review

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse serves eligible Upper Class, Flying Club Gold and selected partner-status travelers departing from the international side of O.R. Tambo International Airport. It is on the mezzanine level above the international retail area, after security and passport control, and admission is generally limited to the period before departure.

The lounge is a compact, restaurant-led space with parquet flooring, soft lighting, tables for meals and smaller seating areas for working or waiting. Seating and power points are distributed around the room, while the elevated internal setting provides only limited airport views. This is a quieter, more focused facility than a large multi-zone hub, so it works best for travelers with a meal or a short pre-flight stay rather than those seeking extensive relaxation space.

Food is ordered from a menu rather than taken from a buffet. The offering includes snacks, salads and substantial hot dishes, with vegetarian and vegan choices, while the bar serves complimentary drinks including South African wines. Shower rooms, Wi-Fi, charging and luggage storage cover the practical essentials; no dedicated nap rooms, spa or meeting facilities are verified.

The Clubhouse is most suitable for eligible travelers who value a sit-down meal and shower before an international departure. Its food and beverage program is stronger than that of a standard airline lounge, but its compact layout and limited views place it below the most expansive premium Clubhouses.
